STAR Physical Therapy offers vestibular rehabilitation to treat vertigo, dizziness, and balance problems with our
therapist, Heather Chatt, PT, DPT, OCS, Cert. MDT. Heather has been practicing in outpatient orthopedics for 15
years. She began treating vestibular patients early on in her career and has taken several continuing education courses relevant to vestibular evaluation and treatment.
One of the most common vestibular diagnoses is Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV), which occurs when the calcium crystals in the inner ear are dislodged from their normal positions and move into the semicircular canals. Symptoms include an onset of moderate to severe vertigo (patients complain “the room is spinning”), particularly with body movements such as rolling over in bed, supine to sit transfers, and bending forward. Severe symptoms will
generally will fatigue within 1-2 minutes of stopping the aggravating movement.
Most patients with these symptoms can effectively and efficiently be treated by a physical therapist with training in vestibular rehabilitation in a few sessions without the need for medication, costly visits to the emergency room, or referral to other specialties.
New patient appointments are available within 24-48 hours. Please call our office at 425-1018 to refer a patient!
